This painting of the Northern Lights is in oil painting which I painted from a picture I found..(I do not know who had taken this picture,but they surely deserve credit for it because it is absolutely beautiful) Very much enjoyed painting this magnificent piece of work. For those of you that are not familiar with the Northern Lights, I have provided a short explanation of them..below >
Aurora Borealis or ( Northern Lights )
The Northern Lights are actually the result of collisions between gaseous particles in the Earth's atmosphere with charged particles released from the sun's atmosphere. Variations in colour are due to the type of gas particles that are colliding. The most common auroral color, a pale yellowish-green, is produced by oxygen molecules located about 60 miles above the earth. Rare, all-red auroras are produced by high-altitude oxygen, at heights of up to 200 miles. Nitrogen produces blue or purplish-red aurora.
PS: The white specs are actually stars.
As a child I was always drawing airplanes or rockets of some kind. Thus came the interest for space travel, the universe and the unknown.Most of my work is done with bold, vibrant colors. My artwork usually has hidden stories or meanings to them and they are all usually life related. Sometimes the meaning that I am trying to express is not always shown, but it usually has an underlying message to it. My feeling on art ?? "Art is an expression of who we are and how we perceive the world." Everyone sees something different. I believe this is what makes us different in our own way.
